Northeast of Bucharest in the Carpathian Range, the Poiana Brasov ski area has 12 runs totaling 25km served by 11 lifts accessing a maximum vertical drop of 2,500 feet. The slopes are equally divided by difficulty, though favoring beginners and intermediates. The best Polana Brasov snowboarding can be found during the months of January and February.
This is the largest and best known resort in Romania, though it is often thin on snow. Even though they get over 28 feet of snow annually, there is usually not more that 15 inches of base.

Poiana Brasov is surrounded by the following mountains: Postavarul 1799 m, Piatra Craiului 2238 m; Bucegi 2505 m; Piatra Mare 1848 m. To reach the snowboarding at Poiana Brasov ski center from Bucharest, drive south for three hours. There are train connections that make it to Brasov, but it can take all day long. The town of Brasov is about 13km from the resort of Poiana Brasov. There are busses every half an hour from Brasov up to Poiana Brasov, or you can grab a taxi.
