Close to the Twin Cities near Hastings in the St. Croix River Valley, the Afton Alps ski area has 37 snowboarding trails with wonderful vistas.

Directions from Bloomington, Eden Praire, Edina, Minnetonka:

a. Take Hwy 494 east to Maxwell (first exit after Mississippi River)

b. Take a left on Maxwell

c. Maxwell will turn into Bailey Rd

d. Take a right on County Rd. 20 (Military Rd.)

e. Follow the signs to Afton Alps.

Overall, Afton Alps is the 3rd most popular snowboard & freeride destination of all 10 snowboarding resorts in Minnesota. Several of the better snowboarding resorts are nearby Afton Alps including Theodore Wirth Park, Elm Creek Ski Area and Buck Hill Ski Area.
