Southeast of Wilkes-Barre and south of Lake Harmony, the Big Boulder ski area has 12 runs served by five lifts accessing a maximum descent of 300 feet. The Big Boulder Ski Area is part of the combined, but not connected, Jack Frost Big Boulder Resort. The Big Boulder ski area is popular among freestyle snowboarders for its five terrain parks. The best Big Boulder snowboarding is usually found during the months from late-January to mid-February.

To reach the snowboarding at Big Boulder ski area from US80, use Exit #284. Turn right on Route 115 South, then turn right onto Route 903 South and follow the signs to Big Boulder.

TIP: Pending approval, Vail Resorts has announced the purchase of Big Boulder ski area, thus allowing lift access via the popular Vail Epic season pass.

Overall, Big Boulder Ski Area is the 13th most popular snowboard & freeride destination of all 17 snowboarding resorts in Pennsylvania.
