In the Pocono Mountains southeast of Palmerton, the Blue Mountain Ski Area has 39 runs served by 6 lifts accessing a maximum vertical drop of 1,082 feet. Three trails are all over a mile long. The lifts include a high-speed detachable six person lift, a triple lift and a quad lift.

The newer double black diamond run, Nightmare, with a 900 foot vertical drop is perfect for snowboarding. The Blue Mountain Ski Area has added a black diamond trail, Razorback. Also, there are two newer gladed trails known as Blue Baumer and Sleepy Hollow.

To reach the snowboarding at Blue Mountain Ski Area from Allentown, head north on SR145 for about 9 miles to traffic light at far end of long bridge. At this intersection, turn right onto Blue Mountain Drive for roughtly three miles to the traffic light in Cherryville. Continue straight another three miles to Danielsville. Continue straight past Danielsville to the entrance sign just past the top of the mountain. Blue Mountain Ski Area is located at 1660 Blue Mountain Drive in Palmerton.
