Northeast of Los Angeles and west of Wrightwood, the Mountain High Resort has 59 runs spread over 290 acres that are served by 14 lifts with a maximum vertical descent of 1,600 feet. With an annual snowfall over 100 inches, the Mt High Ski Area is spread over three summits served two main base areas (East and West). The peak elevation is over 8,200 feet. This is a real family-friendly resort with runs classified from 25% beginner to 40% intermediate to 35% advanced.
For the freestyle snowboarders in your crew, there is almost entire mountain at Mt High that is dedicated to terrain park features (man-made and natural) spread over 70 acres. These features include 30-40 foot long rails and over 50 jumps and jibs. There are varying progression zones to session from beginner to pro lines. There is extensive lighting for night riding as well.
After a long day of snowboarding at Mountain High, the best bets for apres ski action are at the Bullwheel Bar or the Foggy Goggle.
To reach Mountain High Ski Area from Los Angeles, follow US10 or the 60 Freeway eastbound to US15 North. Exit onto SR138 westbound and make a left on SR2. You will find Mountain High just three miles past the town of Wrightwood. The driving time from downtown Los Angeles is just 90 minutes and doesn't require any mountain passes.
