South of Bloomington, the Paoli Peaks ski area has 13 runs served by five lifts accessing a maximum descent of 300 feet. The level of difficulty ranges from 25% beginner to 55% intermediate to 20% advanced.
For the freestyle snowboarders in your crew, Paoli has two terrain parks to session. The Bonk is the beginner freestyle terrain park for new and young riders. It has rails, steel benches, small jumps and smaller boxes. It has it's own 100 foot long tow rope to aid progression. The Pioneer Park is the largest terrain park in Indiana. Based on an intermediate slope, it has over 40 features including large jumps and freestyle features.
To reach Paoli Peaks ski area from Louisville, Kentucky, head west on US64 for about 5 miles past the Ohio River. Use the exit for SR150 heading west for 39 miles. Continue through Paoli heading west for another 2 miles. Turn left at the sign for the ski area and follow road to parking area.
To reach Paoli Peaks ski area from Indianapolis, head south on US465 to SR37. Continue south on SR37 into Paoli. Turn right heading west on SR150 for 2 miles. Turn left at the sign for the ski area and follow road to parking area.
TIP: Pending approval, Vail Resorts has announced the purchase of Paoli Peaks Ski Area, thus allowing lift access via the popular Vail Epic season pass.
