Wolf Creek Ski Area Snowboarding

The 9th most popular snowboarding destination in Colorado.

East of Durango and Pagosa Springs in the San Juan Mountains, the Wolf Creek ski area has 70 runs spread over 1,600 acres that are served by 5 lifts with a maximum vertical descent of 1,600 feet. Wolf Creek is known by snowboarders for its multitude of steeps, rollers, cliffs and glades, and of course lack of crowds since its so remote. It's location along the continental divide creates a funnel for storms and results in tons of powder. A couple times a decade, theres even an early season dump due to late Mexican tropical storms which stray into the San Juans and drop several feet of snow for a tasty Holloween treat.

Thinking of going big? If you're ready for some challenging cliff action, check out scaffolding hike up Knife Ridge from the top of the Alberta Lift. Bigger, don't forget that Wolf Creek has plenty of serious hike-to freeriding from the top of the new Treasure Stoke chairlift. Try the hike up Alberta Peak and drop down towards Daveys Rock. Or, drop into Montezuma Bowl and the Peak chutes.

Looking for nightlife? Well, theres not much at the base, so head to Bear Creek or Timbers.

The snowboarding at Wolf Creek is located on US160 between Pagosa Springs and South Fork at the top of Wolf Creek Pass.

Overall, Wolf Creek Ski Area is the 9th most popular snowboard & freeride destination of all 28 snowboarding resorts in Colorado.
