Southwest of Wilkes-Barre near Hazleton in the Blue Mountains, the Eagle Rock ski area has 12 lighted runs open to snowboarding with a maximum vertical of 550 feet. The ski area is served by three lifts. The best Eagle Rock snowboarding is usually found during the months from late-January to mid-February.
There is a 1 mile long terrain park, a JIB park with 16 rails, rhythm section, gaps and jumps, and a 1,000 ft. long Super Half Pipe.
To reach the ski area from Phili, take Interstate 476 north to exit 95 (Pocono exit). Take Interstate 80 west to Interstate 81 south. Stay on Interstate 81 south to exit 143 (Hazleton business exit). Follow Rt. 924 south to the Eagle Rock entrance on your right.
Overall, Eagle Rock Ski Area is the 6th most popular snowboard & freeride destination of all 17 snowboarding resorts in Pennsylvania.
