Northeast of Butte and Anaconda, the Discovery Basin Ski Area has 40 runs open to snowboarding with a 1300 feet vertical.

To reach the Discovery Basin trailhead from the east, take US90 to Exit 208 onto Highway 1 west towards Anconda (8 miles). Continue west on Highway 1 for 20 miles to Georgetown Lake. Turn right (north) at the Discovery Ski Area and St. Timothys Chapel signs. Continue north for 4.5 miles to the ski area. Follow signs.

Overall, Discovery Ski Area is the 7th most popular snowboard & freeride destination of all 11 snowboarding resorts in Montana.
