Northwest of Portland and Bethel, the Sunday River ski area has 135 runs spread across 820 acres that are served by 15 lifts with a maximum vertical desent of 2,340 feet. At Sunday River Resort, the terrain is spread across a wide mountain range of eight peaks. While the maintained trails and glades total 820 acres, you are welcome to explore the entire 2,000 acres within their boundaries unless something is specifically marked closed.

For glades, check out Lost Princess and Emerald City. If you are looking for the extremes, make sure to head over to Oz. For those freestylers, you've got to check out the new T72 terrain park trail on the North Peak; it's one of six terrain parks at Sunday River.

For nightlife, check out Matterhorn Ski Bar or Suds Pub.

To reach the snowboarding at Sunday River Ski Area from the south, head north on US95 to Exit #63. Head north on SR26 to Bethel. Follow Rt. 2 East for 2.6 miles. Take a left onto Sunday River Road, marked by the large Sunday River Brewery (big building with red roof). Follow Sunday River Road to a fork with a Sunday River Ski Resort sign. Fork left and follow signs for the Grand Summit Resort Hotel, base lodges, and amenities (1 mile). Fork right and follow signs for the Jordan Grand Resort Hotel (5 miles).

Overall, Sunday River Resort is the 3rd most popular snowboard & freeride destination of all 8 snowboarding resorts in Maine.
