Sunday River Resort Snowboarding

Northwest of Portland and Bethel, the Sunday River ski area has 135 runs spread across 820 acres that are served by 15 lifts with a maximum vertical desent of 2,340 feet. At Sunday River Resort, the terrain is spread across a wide mountain range of eight peaks. The runs range in difficulty from 25% beginner to 35% intermediate to 40% advanced.
While the maintained trails and glades total 820 acres, you are welcome to explore the entire 2,000 acres within their boundaries unless something is specifically marked closed. For glades, check out Lost Princess and Emerald City. If you are looking for the extremes, make sure to head over to Oz or up to the extreme Spruce Peak zone to check out the Spruce Cliffs (double-black).
For tho freestyle snowboarders in your group, Sunday River offers five terrain parks to session. The largest is terrain park is called T72, which is accessible from the North Peak Express lift or the Chondola lift. It has a range of jumps, rails and jibs along with a 600-foot long halfpipe that has 18 foot walls. The 3D park is a mid-size terrain park with jumps then jibs and then more jumps. It is accessible from the North Peak Express lift. Wonderland and Whoville are the entry level and beginner/intermediate level terrain parks that have small jump lines and easy boxes. Whoville is located on South Ridge and is accessible via the Chondola lift or the South Ridge Express lift. Lastly, the Flow State is home to the family-oriented boardercross course which is located in Barker Basin. It is accessible via the Barker Mountain Express lift or the Locke Triple lift.

To reach the snowboarding at Sunday River Ski Area from the south, head north on US95 to Exit #63. Head north on SR26 to Bethel. Follow Rt. 2 East for 2.6 miles. Take a left onto Sunday River Road, marked by the large Sunday River Brewery (big building with red roof). Follow Sunday River Road to a fork with a Sunday River Ski Resort sign. Fork left and follow signs for the Grand Summit Resort Hotel, base lodges, and amenities (1 mile). Fork right and follow signs for the Jordan Grand Resort Hotel (5 miles). The nearest airport to Sunday River is located in Portland.
