Near Jeffersonville, the Smugglers Notch ski area has 70 runs open to snowboarding with a maximum vertical of 2,600 feet. Smugglers Notch consists of three inter-connected mountains that comprise Vermonts biggest vertical drop. Morse Mountain, the beginners haven, rises directly out of the resort village. Sterling Mountains terrain appeals especially to intermediates, while Madonna Mountain is the skiers mountain featuring the world-class F.I.S., the popular gladed Doc Dempseys Run, and the first and only triple black diamond trail in the East - The Black Hole at Freefall Woods.

To reach Smugglers Notch Resort from New York City to Smugglers (approx. 6 hrs.) Follow the New York Thruway. I-87N, through Albany, NY to Exit 20. Pick up NY 149E to Fort Ann. Take US 4N through Whitehall to the Vermont border. Watch for signs for Fair Haven and Vergennes. Pick up Rte. 22A N to Vergennes. Pick up Rte. 7N to South Burlington. Take I-189E to I-89N to Exit 15 (Winooski), take a right onto Rte. 15E through Essex Junction to Jeffersonville. Take Rte. 108S to Smugglers Notch Resort, located on left about 5 miles from Jeffersonville. It is located at 4323 Vermont Route 108 South.
There is a newer gladed trail called Attitude that was cut on Madonna Mountain. It is accessed via the Lower Drifter Trail.
