Northeast of Asheville and east of Banner Elk, the Sugar Mountain Resort has 20 runs spread over 115 acres that are served by 5 lifts with a maximum vertical descent of 1,200 feet. Beginners can enjoy the Rope Tow area, Easy Street, and Lowing Flying Mile. The advanced riders will like the expert trails including Tom Terrific, Boulder Dash and Whoopdedoo, which has a steep fall line off the summit. Additionally, there is the well-maintained terrain park with fun box, tabletop, spine, quarter pipe, rail slide and a brand new service lift.
