West of Ottowa near Barrys Bay, the Madawaska Valley Ski Area (formerly Radcliffe Hills Ski Area) has runs open to snowboarding.

To reach Madawaska Valley Ski Area from Ottowa, head west on Highway 417 to Highway 17 at Arnprior. Continue northwest on Highway 17 before turning west on Highway 60 at Renfrew. Follow this scenic highway west past Eganville to Barry's Bay. In Barry's Bay, look for Highway 62 leading south. Follow this road for about 5 km to Madawaska Valley Ski Area, which will be on the left hand side of the highway. Allow just over 2 hours to travel approximately 185 km.

Overall, Madawaska Valley Ski Area is the 6th most popular snowboard & freeride destination of all 7 snowboarding resorts in Ontario. Several of the better snowboarding resorts are nearby Madawaska Valley Ski Area including Calabogie Peaks Resort and Mount Pakenham Ski Resort.
