Just southwest of Queenstown, the Remarkables Peak Ski Area has about two dozen lifts served by 3 chairlifts with a maximum vertical of 357m. The snowboarding runs are spread across 544 acres.
The Remarkables ski area has three, mellow family-oriented bowls flanked by jagged peaks. With that said, if you are looking for some challenge, head up the Sugar Bowl chairlift. Follow the Anzac Run on the top of the ridge to two chutes including the Gallipoli chute. Keep in mind that some of the best runs may require some hiking of the pistes.
The Remarkables Ski Area is located about 45 minutes southwest of Queenstown. The final few kilometers of the access road are quite sketchy.
Overall, Remarkables Ski Area is the 5th most popular snowboard & freeride destination of all 9 snowboarding resorts in New Zealand. Several of the better snowboarding resorts are nearby Remarkables Ski Area including Temple Cummins / Wanaka Backcountry, Coronet Peak Ski Area, Treblecone Ski Area and Cardrona Ski Area.
