Northwest of Oslo and northeast of Bergen, the Stryn Vinterski skisenter is known as the regional extreme snowboarding area with plenty of off-piste runs. The Stryn ski area has 8 groomed pistes served by 2 main lifts that access a maximum descent of 675m. This is a family-friendly skisenter with easy to moderate groomed runs. The best Stryn Vinterski snowboarding is usually found in the month of January.
For the more challenging lines, snowboarders will need to venture off-piste. The fresh powder found off the groomed runs make take a little hiking, but there are amazing vistas of the surrounding Nordfjord.
The Stryn Vinterski skisenter is well-known for its small, but lively apres ski bar at the base.
The Stryn Vinterski is located about 4km north of the town of Stryn. While it is about a 7 hour drive northwest of Oslo, there are flights from Oslo into the Orsta-Volda Airport in Hovden.
TIP: The nearest accomodations are in the town of Stryn. These can be limited, so many visitors coming for the snowboarding opt to stay in Loen since it is only about 15 minutes from the ski area.
Overall, Stryn Skisenter is the 5th most popular snowboard & freeride destination of all 9 snowboarding resorts in Norway.
