The village of Kranjska is known for its charm and almost an Austrian-feel. It is a popular destination with budget-conscious families. During the high-season, it does have a fun apres-ski scene.
The groomed slopes do not have much free-ride snowboarding action, but you can high a local guide to explore the surrounding peaks. The best Kranjska Gora snowboarding can be found during the months of January and February.
The main access point is the capital of Ljubljana, which is a 60 minute drive to the resort. There is also a train from Ljubljana to Jenenice, with connecting bus service to the resort. Alternately, it is easy to drive from the Villach train station. Once in the village, there is a free ski bus that provides service between the hotels and the ski lifts.
Overall, Kranjska Gora Ski Area is the 3rd most popular snowboard & freeride destination of all 7 snowboarding resorts in Slovenia.
