Northwest of Ljubliana near Jensenice in the Julian Alps, the Kranjska Gora Ski Area has 11 runs served by 10 lifts with a maximum vertical drop of 486m. The Kranjska Gora Ski Area primarily caters to beginners with 85% easy slopes. But the slopes are well-groomed and have some high-speed lift access along with night lit slopes. The only advanced slope is the Podkoren Trail. Note, when looking at the piste map keep in mind that the summit lift (#8) only operates in the summer.
The village of Kranjska is known for its charm and almost an Austrian-feel. It is a popular destination with budget-conscious families. During the high-season, it does have a fun apres-ski scene.
The groomed slopes do not have much free-ride snowboarding action, but you can high a local guide to explore the surrounding peaks.
The main access point is the capital of Ljubljana, which is a 60 minute drive to the resort. There is also a train from Ljubljana to Jenenice, with connecting bus service to the resort.
Overall, Kranjska Gora Ski Area is the 4th most popular snowboard & freeride destination of all 7 snowboarding resorts in Slovenia.
