Northwest of Ljubljana and west of Kranj, the Vogel Bohinj Ski Area has 14 pistes totaling 22km that are served by 6 lifts accessing a maximum descent of 275m. This is an easier ski area with no difficult pistes. With that said, there are numerous off-piste backcountry free ride routes for splitboarders to explore. The best Vogel Bohinj snowboarding can be found during the months of January and February.
For the freestyle snowboarders in your crew, the Vogel Bohinj Ski Area has a terrain park called Park Vogel. The terrain park has rails, boxes and kickers ranging from beginner to expert for freestylers to session.
The ski area is located west of Kranj and south of Bohinj Jezero in Triglav National Park. To reach the snowboarding at Vogel Ski Area, fly into Ljubljana and take a train to Kranj. Take a bus or taxi from Kranj to the car park on Lake Bohinj at the bottom of the cable car (the only way to the base area). The Ski Hotel is located at the mid-station and most snowboarders spend their day above the mid-station. There is one long piste from the summit that winds down around through Konjska ravine (Route #14) that leads all the way to the cable car base area
PRO TIP: There is another ski area located to the east called Kobla Ski Area. If you are driving, you may want to stop there for a half day of snowboarding, too.
Overall, Vogel Bohinj Ski Area is the 1st most popular snowboard & freeride destination of all 7 snowboarding resorts in Slovenia.
