Northwest of Aosta and just south of St Bernard Pass, the Crevacal Ski Area has 13 pistes totaling 21km that are served by 2 lifts a maximum vertical drop of 810m. The level of snowboarding difficulty ranges from 35% beginner to 50% advanced to 15% expert. It is generally know for its intermediate groomers and also its off-piste lines, which are fun for a single day of riding. The best Crevacal snowboarding can be found during the months of January to March with good snow since its high base elevation.
The off-piste freeriding lines are popular with expert snowboarders. Many of them lead back down to the switchbacking highway, which can be used to return to the lifts. Just watch out for low-angle terrain-traps.
Overall, the Crevacol ski area is usually uncrowded and has limited apres ski. The best option at the end of the day is to stop by the Grand Golliat rifugio.
To reach the snowboarding at Crevacal, there is a public bus from the north (Verbier) and also coming up from the south (Aosta). It is a 35 minute drive by car up from Aosta.
Overall, Crevacal is the 15th most popular snowboard & freeride destination of all 55 snowboarding resorts in Italy.
