South of Jenbach and west of Kaltenbach, the Hochfugen ski area has 37 lifts providing access to 171km of pistes. The ski area elevation ranges from 1,500m to 2,500m.
The Hochfugen ski area is known for its off-piste freeride snowboarding zones. These zones provide a challenging experience for experts or those with guides. They have dedicated maps focusing on the zones, which include Kuchl, Marchkopf, Nase, Ostwand, and Vordere Pfuns.
To reach the snowboarding at Hochfugen, take the train from Innsbruck or Munich to Jenbach. Then, transfer to the Zillertalbahn to head up the valley to Kaltenbach.
Overall, Hochfugen is the 35th most popular snowboard & freeride destination of all 67 snowboarding resorts in Austria. Several of the better snowboarding resorts are nearby Hochfugen including Mayrhofen, Gerlos, Wald-Konigsleiten, Zell Am Ziller and Hintertux.
