The Kamchatka peninsula is known as a freeriders paradise. Heliboarding is king here with five volcanoes and an average maximum vertical descent of 1,500m. The most popular volcanoes are Mutnovskiy (2,323m), Opala (2,460m), Viluchinskiy (2,173m), and Avachinskiy (2,741m). The Kamchatka region is known for its deep maritime snowpack.
To reach the Kamchatka volcanoes, the helicopters launch from Elizovo, which is north of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. There are regular flights from mainland Russia into Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky on the Kamchatka peninsula.
Overall, Kamchatka is the 5th most popular snowboard & freeride destination of all 23 snowboarding resorts in Russia.
