  August 4, 2016

Southeast of Grenoble and northeast of Chamonix, the Flaine ski domaine has 140km of piste served by 24 lifts with a maximum vertical descent of 880m (2,900 feet). The family-friendly Flaine ski domaine is part of the larger interconnected Grand Massif ski region, which has 265km of pistes served by 69 lifts with a maximum vertical descent of 1,770m (5,800 feet). The Grand Massif ski region interconnects five villages including the larger Flaine and Samoens.

In the Flaine ski domaine, the best snowboarding can be found in the Flaine bowl. For steeps, check out Styx, Diamond Noir and the piste to Samoens. For off-piste freeriding, you can check out Gers Bowl.

The Flaine is a modern, concrete village that many consider austere. It is known for its apartments and not for its hotels nor its nightlife. But, you can try to find some nightlife at Le White Bar, Le Diamond Noir or Le Skifun.

To reach the snowboarding in the Flaine ski domaine by air, fly into Geneva. There is a train to Cluses and then there are daily buses for the final 30km to Flaine.

Overall, Flaine is the 35th most popular snowboard & freeride destination of all 47 snowboarding resorts in France. Several of the better snowboarding resorts are nearby Flaine including Samoens and Les Carroz.
