Southeast of Luzerne, the Klewenalp-Stockhutte ski area has 40km of pistes served by 13 lifts accessing a vertical descent of 700m. While popular with daytrippers from Luzern, this ski area is best known for beginner and intermediate snowboarders.
There are two base lifts in Emmetten and in Beckenreid that provide round trip access up to the ski area. At the end of the day, you will need to downlift back to these villages. There is a ski bus between the two bases of Beckreid and Emmetten.
After a long day of snowboarding, the best options for apres ski are either at the Panorama Schneebar above Klwenalp or down at Hotel Engel in Emmetten.
To reach the Klewenalp-Stockhutte ski area by air, fly into Zurich International Airport (ZRH). Take the train south through downtown Zurich to connect with the train to Stans. From Stans, there is a bus to Beckenreid and then a 3 minute walk to the lift.
Overall, Klewenalp-Stockhutte is the 52nd most popular snowboard & freeride destination of all 80 snowboarding resorts in Switzerland.
