South of Bern and south of Sion in Val d'Arolla, the Arolla Ski Area has 10 pistes totaling 47km that are served by 5 drag lifts with a maximum descent of 1,000m. There are challenging glacier and powder field routes. The best Arolla snowboarding is typically found during the months of February and March when the snowpack is usually deeper.
The Arolla ski area is part of the greater Espace Dent Blanche ski region which also includes Evolene and La Forclaz. There are a total of 100km of pistes. These ski areas are interconnected by bus only.

To reach the snowboarding at Domaine Skiable d'Arolla, take the train from Geneva, Bern or Zurich to Sion. The best airport is located in Geneva, which is about 4 hours away by train and then bus. From Sion, there is a public post bus up to Arolla Post. It's about a 5 minute walk to the lifts.
Overall, Arolla is the 55th most popular snowboard & freeride destination of all 87 snowboarding resorts in Switzerland. Several of the better snowboarding resorts are nearby Arolla including Evolene and La Forclaz.
