Southeast of Pau in the Pyrenees, the St-Lary-Soulan ski area has 100km of pistes served by 31 lifts with a maximum vertical descent of 815m. The town of St-Lary-Soulan is a quaint traditional village with a narrow pedestrian-style main street. At this ski area, there are plenty of intermediate pistes all located above the treeline. There is a gondola from the village that you have to take both ways to reach the pistes.
If you are looking for some off-piste challenge, head up to Soum de Matte and to Courne Blanque. For freestylers, there is a terrain park, half-pipe and a boardercross course.
After a long morning of shredding, grab an on-mountain lunch at Les 3 Guides, L’Oule, or La Cabane.
For apres ski action, you can try out 1700 Top Ski. For some nightlife, check out the Fitzroy.
Overall, St-Lary-Soulan is the 36th most popular snowboard & freeride destination of all 47 snowboarding resorts in France.
