Southwest of Innsbruck in Neustift, the Elferbahn ski area has 3 pistes served by 2 lifts with a maximum vertical descent of 1,100m. The Neustift ski area is also known as Elfer 11er Lifte ski area.
After a long morning of ripping it up, try stopping by the Elferhutte for lunch, but there are also several other quaint huts to check out as well.
For nightlife, head to the Dorf Pub in Neustift, then on to Nachkastl or Scala Club.
This area is also quite popular with the sledging crowd and there are rentals right at the base lift station. There are two 8km sledging pistes and one 5km route. There are select evenings when the lift runs late and the sledging pistes are slightly lit (a head lamp is highly recommended).
The village of Neustift is a traditional Tirolean village and makes a great base, especially if you’d like to check out the other ski areas in the valley.
To reach the snowboarding at Elfer by air, fly into Innsbruck international airport (INN). There is a quick public bus from the airport through downtown to the Innsbruck main train station, if necessary. Some of the hotels offer a free shuttle bus from the airport. From the Innsbruck main train station, there are regular public Regio Stubai bus #590 that runs up the Stubaital valley. Also, within the Stubaital, there is a free ski bus that runs from Schonberg up to the Mutterberg Station.
Overall, Elferbahn is the 40th most popular snowboard & freeride destination of all 64 snowboarding resorts in Austria. Several of the better snowboarding resorts are nearby Elferbahn including Stubaier Gletscher, Schlick 2000 and Serlesbahnen.
