Southwest of Munich and north of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, the Oberammergau ski area has two pistes served by one lift with a maximum vertical descent of 846m. From the summit of the Laberbergbahn lift, there are two possible pistes heading back down to Oberammergau. First, there is a groomed black difficult piste, which is one of the steepest descents in Germany. Second, there is an ungroomed ski route called Nordhang, which is marked and avalanche controlled. It is also quite steep and is well-known throughout the region for its challenge.
Overall, Oberammergau is the 7th most popular snowboard & freeride destination of all 10 snowboarding resorts in Germany. Several of the better snowboarding resorts are nearby Oberammergau including Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Dammkar Ski Route.
