East of Rome and south of Pescara in the Appennines, the Ovindoli Monte Magnola ski area has 21 pistes served by 6 lifts with a maximum vertical descent of 510m. While the best pistes are all above the centrally located Magnola base area, the most challenging pistes are high above from the Mount Freddo summit. The best Ovindoli Monte Magnola snowboarding can usually be found during the months of February and March.
For the freestyle snowboarders in your crew, Ovindoli Monte Magnola ski resort has a terrain park called Magnola Snowpark. Located on the Anfiteatro piste, it is one of the best parks in central Italy. There are four lines of features ranging from beginner to pro. There are three slopestyle lines with boxes, kickers and rails, along with one line just for jibbing. Overall, there are 30 features from 2m to 22m with boxes of various sizes. There is also a snowboardercross course laid out next to the terrain park.
The Appennine Mountains are known for their heavy, wet snow which lasts throughout the winter. In particular, they are known for their unusually deep, record-setting snowfalls that usually come annually in March. The Appennines are home to over 25 ski areas with most of them being very family-friendly.
The Ovindoli Monte Magnola ski resort is located northwest of Ovindoli and just southwest of Campagnolo. To reach the snowboarding at Ovindoli Monte Magnola by air, you will want to fly into Aeroporto Internazionale d'Abruzzo (PSR) in Pescara on the eastern Adriatic Sea coast. There are several international flights into Pescara and intercountry flights from Rome. While you could fly to Rome and rent a car, those heavy snowfalls make driving unexpectedly difficult. From the airport in Pescara, some of the resort hotels do provide a complementary shuttle bus.
Overall, Ovindoli Monte Magnola is the 31st most popular snowboard & freeride destination of all 57 snowboarding resorts in Italy.
