East of Rome and south of Pescara in the Appennines, the Ovindoli Monte Magnola ski area has 21 pistes served by 6 lifts with a maximum vertical descent of 510m.

The Appennine Mountains are known for their heavy, wet snow which lasts throughout the winter. In particular, they are known for their unusually deep, record-setting snowfalls that usually come annually in March. The Appennines are home to over 25 ski areas with most of them being very family-friendly.

To reach the snowboarding at Ovindoli Monte Magnola by air, you will want to fly into Aeroporto Internazionale d’Abruzzo (PSR) in Pescara on the eastern Adriatic Sea coast. There are several international flights into Pescara and intercountry flights from Rome. While you could fly to Rome and rent a car, those heavy snowfalls make driving unexpectedly difficult. From the airport in Pescara, some of the resort hotels do provide a complementary shuttle bus.

Overall, Ovindoli Monte Magnola is the 39th most popular snowboard & freeride destination of all 43 snowboarding resorts in Italy. Several of the better snowboarding resorts are nearby Ovindoli Monte Magnola including Prati di Tivo, Roccaraso - Rivisondoli, Pescocostanzo, Campo Felice, Campo Imperatore, Scanno Passo Godi, Scanno Monte Rotondo, .
