South of Salzburg and northwest of Lienz, the Skizentrum St Jakob in Deferengental has 13 pistes served by 6 lifts with a maximum vertical descent of 1,225m. This ski area is a solid intermediates paradise with mostly red and blue level difficulty pistes.
After a long morning of snowboarding in Deferengental, try grabbing an on-mountain lunch at Eggenhutte or Mooseralm. When you're ready for some apres ski action, look for the Zisch Hutte at the base area.
Throughout the Deferengental, there is a convenient post bus connecting the villages and the ski area. The bus starts out in the very small village of Huben at the foot of the valley, where you can connect with buses to Liez in the south and also to Matrei / Mittersill in the north.
Overall, Deferegental is the 28th most popular snowboard & freeride destination of all 75 snowboarding resorts in Austria.
