West of Edmonton and the town of Valemount on the slopes of Mount Pierre Trudeau, the Valemount Glacier Resort is a proposed ski area served by 21 lifts that access a maximum vertical descent of 6,726 feet (some quotes vary from 6,726 to 6,857 and up to 7,818 feet). The resort is located in the Caribou Mountains, and presently there are no plans for snow-making. The current plan is for construction to begin in the Summer of 2019, and the first six lifts opening for the winter 2020-2021 season, with full build out taking about 20 years.
The nearby town of Valemount is small, so don’t expect big apres ski or nightlife. Your best bet is to check out Three Ranges Brewing, Caribou Gril or the Gathering Tree.
To reach the snowboarding at Valemount Glacier Resort, you’ll want to fly into either Kamloops or Edmonton.
Overall, Valemount Glacier Resort is the 27th most popular snowboard & freeride destination of all 27 snowboarding resorts in British Columbia.
