Southeast of Zurich and Blundenz near St Gallenkirch, the Silvretta Montafon ski area is well-suited for beginners and intermediates along with several good off-pistes routes. Overall, there are 219km of pistes served by 37 lifts accessing a vertical descent of 5,675 feet. The ski region interconnects serveral villages by lift and by bus. The best base is in the village of St Gallenkirch or Schruns, and then use the bus to get to Gargellen or Golm (St Anton am Montafon), too. Out of St Gallenkirch, you may need to use the lift to get out and back to town.
After a long morning of snowboarding at Montafon, check out one of the rustic on-mountain huts including Lindauer Hutte, Wormser Hutte or the Alpengasthaus Rellseck.
There is a good ski pass deal if you buy a two day or more pass you can interconnect Silvretta Montafon and Brandnertal with the SkiPass Montafon-Brandnertal.
Overall, Montafon is the 50th most popular snowboard & freeride destination of all 64 snowboarding resorts in Austria.
