South of Salzburg and northeast of Lienz, the Ankogel Mallnitz has six pistes served by three lifts accessing a maximum vertical descent of 1000m. There are several ungroomed ski routes open to freeriding.

To reach the snowboarding at Ankogel Mallnitz, the only option is to come from the south via Lienz or Villach. The nearest train station is Lienz or Mallnitz. While there are a couple hotels at the base, there isn’t much to do there. You may want to stay in Mallnitz for some nightlife.

Overall, Ankogel Mallnitz is the 56th most popular snowboard & freeride destination of all 67 snowboarding resorts in Austria. Several of the better snowboarding resorts are nearby Ankogel Mallnitz including Grossglockner Matrei-Kal, Lienzer Dolomiten Bergbahnen, Grossglockner Heilgenblut and Molltal Glacier.
