South of Salzburg, the Katschberg ski area has 30 pistes totaling 70km that are served by 16 lifts accessing a vertical descent of 1100m. The pistes are spread across two mountains (Aineck and Tschaneck) and the lifts interconnect the two villages of St Margarethen and Katschberghohe. While there's not much off-piste snowboarding at Katschberg, the descent from the Aineck summit down to Katschberghohe is via some steep red and black pistes that can be fun.
Katschberg is directly accessible from the A10 Tauernautobahn (E55). There is a free ski bus interconnecting St. Margarethen - St. Michael - Katschberg, and also interconnecting Oberlungau-Lungau-Katschberg
Overall, Katschberg is the 48th most popular snowboard & freeride destination of all 75 snowboarding resorts in Austria.
