Southeast of Salzburg, the Schladming-Dachstein ski area has 171 pistes totalling 230km that are served by 88 lifts accessing a maximum descent of 1100m. This mostly forested ski area is spread across four very-similar, north-facing summits, and the lifts interconnect the villages of Schladming, Pichl, Gleiming and Haus Ennstal. For the freestyle snowboarders in your crew, head over to the Super Park on Planai that has four progressive lines of varying difficulty to session.
The Schladming-Dachstein ski area is within the Ski Amade ski arena, which has over 860km of pistes served by 270 lifts spread among 5 ski regions interconnecting 25 villages. The five ski regions include Salzburger Sportwelt, Schladming-Dachstein, Gastein, Hochkonig and Grossarltal.
This ski area is well-known for its numerous on-mountain huts. With over 50 high-quality huts, it can be difficult to choose between them. For lunch, some of the best include Onkel Willys Hutte on Planai, Schoarlhutte on Kaibling, and the Krummholzhutte.
The best option for apres ski action is at Hohenhaus Tenne which is located at the Planai lift base. For nightlife, make sure to check out Cultclub.
Overall, Schladming-Dachstein is the 48th most popular snowboard & freeride destination of all 67 snowboarding resorts in Austria.
