Southeast of Salzburg and northeast of Villach, the Kreischberg-Murau ski area has 18 pistes served by 11 lifts accessing a maximum descent of 1000m. This is a family-friendly ski area that is a real intermediates paradise. The Murau-Kreischberg ski area is located near the villages of St. Georgen am Kreischberg and St Lorenzen ob Murau. While there some base area accommodations, you may want to stay in the slightly larger Murau for some nightlife. Murau is located just to the east and it also has the nearest train station.
Overall, Kreischberg-Murau is the 60th most popular snowboard & freeride destination of all 67 snowboarding resorts in Austria.
