Northwest of Bormio above Olga, the Cima Piazzi ski area has 14 pistes served by eight lifts that acces a maximum vertical descent of 1200m. This ski area is also known as Valdidentro ski resort or San Colombano ski area. For freeriders, there is some easy off-piste from Dosse Le Pone drag lift top station. If you are looking for glades, try the descent through the forest into Isolaccia. For expert backcountry splitboarders, consider the hike towards Pizzo Borron leading to the off-piste backcountry lines.

There is a free ski bus interconnecting Cima Piazzi ski area with the Cima Biana/Bormio 3000 ski area and the Santa Caterina ski area along with a combined ski pass. The bus runs infrequently so make sure to check the schedule ahead of time. The best Cima Piazzi - San Colombano snowboarding is during the months of January and February.

While the old world city of Bormio has more hotels and restaurants, another good base for exploring these snowboarding areas is also the smaller village of Isolaccia which is popular for direct access of the Valdidentro ski resort. It makes a great base to explore the Bormio ski areas as well as Livigo to the northwest.

To reach the snowboarding at Cima Piazzi from Milan or St Moritz, there is a combination of train to bus service that makes the connection. When coming from Milan, there is a change of trains in Tirano.

PRO TIP: The Livigono ski area is located to the northwest of Cima Piazzi. There is a bus from Cima Piazzi to the Trepalle base area of Livigo that takes 25 minutes. The Alta Valtellina ski pass covers Livigno, Bormio Ski 3000, Cima Piazzi and Santa Caterina ski areas.

Overall, Cima Piazzi is the 48th most popular snowboard & freeride destination of all 57 snowboarding resorts in Italy. Several of the better snowboarding resorts are nearby Cima Piazzi including Bormio Ski 3000 and Santa Caterina Valfurva.
