South of Jenbach, the Hochfugen ski area has 10 pistes served by six lifts with a maximum descent of 1,100m. It also lift-interconnects with the Hochzillertal-Kaltenbach ski area. The best Hochfugen snowboarding is during the months of January through March.

This ski area is a backcountry freerider paradise with a long snow season. Hochfugen has numerous off piste ski routes especially from the Zillertal Shuttle gondola.

After a long day of snowboarding, make sure to stop by the Apres Ski Bar Gogola-Alm.

To reach the snowboarding at Hochfugen, take the train from Innsbruck or Munich to Jenbach. Then, transfer to the Zillertalbahn to head up the valley to Fugen. There are ski buses from the train station up to Hochfugen.

PRO TIP: There are several proposed lifts expanding terrain and providing a more direct interconnect with Fugen Spieljoch ski area.

Overall, Hochfugen is the 62nd most popular snowboard & freeride destination of all 75 snowboarding resorts in Austria. Several of the better snowboarding resorts are nearby Hochfugen including Hintertux, Mayrhofen, Hochzillertal-Kaltenbach, Gerlos, Wald-Konigsleiten and Fugen Spieljoch.
