South of Albertville and west of Moutiers, the Valmorel ski area has 20 pistes served by 20 lifts accessing a maximum descent of 1050m. A majority of the pistes are family-friendly and forested, but there are some above treeline summit pistes that are steeper. For the freeriders, most of the black level runs are left ungroomed. The best true off-piste lines within the ski area are off the Riondet and Cote lifts or the Lauziere lift down to the Celliers valley. Outside the ski area with the right splitboard and safety gear, you can start at Col du Gollet and head down into the Orgentil valley towards Deux Nant. From there, you'll need to climb up before heading down to La Flachere which is in the Belleville valley.
As part of Le Grand Domaine ski arena, Valmorel is lift-interconnected with the St Francois Longchamp ski area. Between the two ski areas, there is a total of 145km of pistes to explore.
Overall, Valmorel is the 49th most popular snowboard & freeride destination of all 50 snowboarding resorts in France.
