South of Brig above the Rhone Valley, the Rosswald Bahnen Ski Area has 6 pistes totaling 20km that served by three lifts accessing a vertical descent of 700m. It is known by freeriders for its plentiful powder off the top t-bar which offers a 500m descent. If there hasn't been snow recently, this may not be the place for advanced snowboarders.

Pros
• Powder freeriding.
• Ski bus from Brig train station.

Cons
• Crowded on weekends.
• Very small ski area.
• Requires uplift/downlift from Ried-Brig.

To reach the Rosswald Bahnen Ski Area from the Brig train station, there is a ski bus up to Reid-Brig (8km), where a gondola heads up to the ski area. After a long morning of snowboarding, check out Restaurant Fleschboden.

PRO TIP: The Rosswald Bahnen Ski Area can get very crowded on the weekends, so its best to explore on weekdays. If you're looking for more adventure, also try the Bellalp ski area across the valley to the north of Brig. While Rosswald has some charming accommodations, it might be worth staying in Brig to explore both Rosswald and Bellalp.

Overall, Rosswald is the 87th most popular snowboard & freeride destination of all 87 snowboarding resorts in Switzerland. Several of the better snowboarding resorts are nearby Rosswald including Aletsch Arena, Lotschental Lauchernalp, Bellwald-Goms, Moosalp, Unterbaech and Belalp-Blatten.
