Southwest of Visp, the Moosalp ski area has 20 pistes served by six lifts accessing a vertical descent of 1000m. The most challenging pistes are located off the Torbeltal t-bar which offers a 650m descent. Overall, most laps will be about 500m descents since you probably won't go back to the Burchen base too often. The best snowboarding at Moosalp ski area is during the months of January and February.
To reach the snowboarding at Moosalp by train, use the Visp train station. There is a Post Bus from Visp to Burchen. The lift base is above Burchen, so make sure to choose accommodations accordingly.
PRO TIP: The Unterbaech ski area is located just west and is accessible via Post Bus. Also, across the valley to the north is the Lotschental Lauchernalp ski area.
Overall, Moosalp is the 85th most popular snowboard & freeride destination of all 87 snowboarding resorts in Switzerland. Several of the better snowboarding resorts are nearby Moosalp including Aletsch Arena, Lotschental Lauchernalp, Bellwald-Goms, Rosswald, Unterbaech and Belalp-Blatten.
